Things to Look Forward to in Ji Sung’s New K-drama Adamas
Those who have just finished watching ‘Link: Eat, Love, Kill’ on Disney+’s Hotstar now can look forward to the drama ‘Adamas’ starring Ji Sung, Seo Ji-hye and Lee Soo-kyung.
The name ‘Adamas’, which is noticeably not Korean, refers to a ‘bloody diamond arrow’ and tells the tale of twin brothers Woo Shin, a bestselling author and Soo Hyun, a prosecutor who set out to uncover the truth about an incident 22 years ago to clear the charges against their biological father who was accused of murdering their stepfather.

We sat in on the press conference where the main cast and director dished out some information that makes us certain that we’ll be sitting on the edge of our seats during every episode.

Ji Sung’s Acting

This practically goes without saying but the veteran actor who is known for his loving relationship with real-life wife Lee Bo-young never disappoints with his acting.
The star who is 46 years old in Korean age reckoning, ages like fine wine and consistently impresses in every drama he chooses like ‘Innocent Defendant’ and ‘Doctor John’. He is also no stranger to playing multiple roles as he notably played Cha Do Hyun in ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ with seven personalities.
The actor is known to immerse himself fully into each role he picks up and fans can look forward to his acting again as he shared during the press conference that he got so deep into his characters that Woo Shin and Soo Hyun showed up in his dreams.
Director Park Seung-woo even said, “Ji Sung joined the project before I came onboard and that is the main reason why I joined. This shows how satisfied I am with the casting.”
This will be his first drama since ‘The Devil Judge’ ended in August 2021 and it will be exciting to see how Ji Sung carries off playing twins in ‘Adamas’.

Ji Sung & Seo Ji-hye’s Reunion

Although both leads rarely act in any ‘sageuk’ dramas, also known as historical dramas nowadays, they actually first starred opposite each other around 12 years ago in ‘Kim Su-ro, The Iron King’, a series which was a 20 billion won (approximately 68 million ringgit) blockbuster. Ji Sung said of Seo Ji-hye who plays Eun Hye-soo and achieved international recognition with the drama ‘Crash Landing On You’, “It feels great to meet her again in front of the camera. She’s very captivating and gracious and has aged beautifully. ”

Unpredictable Plot

When asked about the genre for the Wednesday-Thursday drama, Director Park Seung-woo shared, “What makes this series stand out from other investigation thrillers is that it’s hard to define the exact genre.” He elaborated that it included hybrid forms of multiple different genres including romance, mystery, thriller and even had elements of noir and comedy.
The cast also mentioned having to film many running scenes, so look out for action too. Ji Sung said he fell in love with each character and their search for the diamond arrow while Seo Ji-hye mentioned, “Each character has a secret which is revealed as the plot unfolds.” Heo Sung-tae of Squid Game fame said, “I thought it was extremely humorous in some parts, I don’t know how it will unfold but you will discover the gripping elements to it.”
