It's time to save the world again!

Do you reminisce about the good ol' days of waking up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings just to catch your favourite cartoons? Do you also feel that cartoons these days are just meh at best, and that they don't make them like they used to anymore?

Fret not, fellow kids at heart; Netflix is here to save the day.

The entertainment streaming website recently announced that they will be bringing back everyone's favourite childhood superhero Ultraman to the small screen!

New and improved?Netflix did not reveal much about the upcoming series except for its tentative release date (2019, in case you were wondering), but being awesome Googlers research writers, we managed to dig up some info about the project.

Here are five things you need to know about 'Ultraman':

#1 It will be an entirely CGI'ed anime series

New look, who dis?
If you're an old school guy hoping for the new series to feature a man in a rubber suit, we hate to be the bearer of bad news. This Netflix series will be a CGI anime, something similar to the network's recent 'Godzilla' films.

The anime will be produced by famed Japanese animation studio Production I.G., whose best works include the 'Ghost in the Shell' series, 'Kuroko's Basketball' and 'Attack On Titan'. If you're an anime fan, you'll know the 'Ultraman' series is in good hands.

#2 It's based on a recent manga series

Ultraman Wiki
The anime series will be based on the critically-acclaimed Ultraman manga series by Eiichi Shimizu and illustrator Tomohiro Shimoguchi. First published in the inaugural Monthly Hero's magazine, the duo has since released 11 volumes of the manga series so far, with most of them topping sales chart in Japan.

To date, the Ultraman manga series has sold 2.4 million copies in print.

#3 It's related to the OG 1966 Ultraman

Remember him?
Ultraman purists will be delighted to hear this. According to Netflix, the anime series will be a direct sequel to the original 'Ultraman' TV series which premiered back in 1966. The anime will take place right after the events of the TV series, when all of the aliens have been defeated and the memories of those dark days are slowly fading away.

Oh, little did they know...

#4 The story will be about Ultraman's son

Dad's favourite child.
The hero of this anime inherited more than his dad's good looks. The series will focus on a teenager named Shinjiro, who was just trying to make it through high school life. Later, he discovers that his dad Shin Hayata is the legendary Ultraman who saved the world. He would soon find out that he inherited the 'Ultraman Factor' from his dad which grants him - gasp! - incredible powers. Geez, someone gets all the luck.

As a new interstellar threat looms over Earth, he must learn how to take up the Ultraman mantle and become the hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now.

#5 It will be a different kind of Ultraman

Check out my blades.
While the 1966 Ultraman features our hero growing 40 meters tall to deal with those nasty kaijus, the Ultraman in this new series is literally just a man. To become Ultraman, Shinjiro has to wear a metal suit kinda like Iron Man's. Fully suited up, Shinjiro stands at only 1.9 meters tall.

The suit allows him to tap into his Ultra Genes, providing him with more incredible powers. It is equipped with a pair of Specium Blades, which allows him to slice through aliens as well as propel himself at incredible speeds.

And in case you're wondering, yes, Shinjiro can fire laser beams from his hands when he crosses them! OK lah, we're happy now.\

Pew pew pew.
