Not everyone likes Singaporean street food (because ours are better, obviously).

Pop princess Britney Spears recently kicked off her Southeast Asia tour, having performed in Manila and Bangkok the past couple of weeks.

A week before she was due to play in Singapore, the "Baby One More Time" singer broke the hearts of Singaporeans when she declared that she's no fan of their local food.

Last Wednesday, the 35-year-old sat down for a phone interview with Singapore's The New Paper ahead of her show this Friday (30 June).

When asked what she's most looking forward to doing during her time in Singapore, she told the news portal what exactly she's NOT looking forward to doing.

"I am not really an ethnic food person, so I am not keen on trying your local food. I am more of a mac and cheese person," she was quoted by the portal as saying.

Of course, our Singaporeans friends were hopping mad:

Hey, we feel you, brothers on the other side of the causeway. We would be angry too if she said Village Park nasi lemak is not the best nasi lemak in the world.

After being bombarded with angry messages online, Spears later provided an explanation during an interview with a Singaporean radio show on Friday, saying that her answer was taken out of context.

"I had one interview where I talked about the food and they served that cold egg like three times and I was so hungry. And I can’t…I can’t eat cold eggs! So they took that in the interview saying I wasn’t keen on trying other foods.

"I love food! Food is my best friend," she was quoted by Kiss92 FM as saying, adding that she will give chicken rice a try when she's in Singapore.
