Malaysia's first ever Malay-language MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) film, 'Sangkar', will be out in cinemas across the nation, as well as Brunei and Singapore very soon.

Not only is it a ground-breaking story, 'Sangkar' also marks the first co-production between four leading partners, Primeworks Studios, Astro Shaw, Infinitus Gold, and mm2 Entertainment.


Talk about media powerhouses!

Directed by multiple award winner Kabir Bhatia, 'Sangkar' was filmed last year with Kabir spearheading the high-quality screenplay.

The film stars Zul Ariffin, Remy Ishak, Mira Filzah, Adam Mika, Ray, Fadlan Hazim, Aman Graseka, Andy Teh and international MMA athlete James “Sledgehammer” McSweeney.


Besides that, 'Sangkar' also features Saiful Merican, Rashid Salleh, Peter Hugh Davis and Terry Gallyot.


'Sangkar' tells the story of two MMA fighters, Adam and Johan, who get into a fight outside the ring, resulting in Johan getting seriously injured.

Filled with guilt, Adam attempts to redeem himself by resorting to underground fights for monetary gains, which he chooses to share with Johan's family.


On the other hand, Johan faces his own struggles and continues to fight for his health for the sake of his family.

Will both Adam and John be able to conquer their obstacles and misfortunes for a better future?



Another exciting release that follows this announcement is the official theme song "Fighter", composed by local rapper Aman RA and Navigator, and performed by Aman RA. The song is now out on Spotify.

The soundtrack also features three new songs by rising talents from the local hip hop scene, namely Dinho, DeLaFlare, Mali & SXPH (“Sangkar”), NtahSape2Ntah (“Luar Biasa”), 000 & Kid Raww (“Jangan”) and the film’s music score by renowned composer, Luka Kuncevic.

These tunes will be available on all digital platforms starting from 23 August onwards.
