Current top of the charts and forever trending is the charming and powerful BTS and the ever so beautiful and jaw-dropping Blackpink. These two K-Pop power groups are taking the world by storm with BTS’s latest album, Map Of The Soul: Persona and Blackpinks’s latest EP, Kill This Love.
Undeniably, both group’s success is a fruitation from their amazing fandoms, the BTS ARMY and Blackpink BLINKS. Both ARMYs and BLINKSs undying love for these idols are evident as they helped these groups conquer charts all over the world. The fans create trending hashtags, streaming parties, anything and everything possible to get the groups to the top.
We’ve never seen a single interaction between BTS and Blackpink but without any reason what-so-ever, fans started comparing both groups and measuring success when, let’s be honest, their genre and direction are TOTALLY DIFFERENT!
Despite the differences in marketing and concepts, fans create a comparison of how well both groups are promoting in the States. ARMYs stand by their ground that BTS PAVED THE WAY for all K-Pop groups by being the first to be invited on different Western platforms and winning awards such as AMAs, BBMAs, Grammys, SNL and much more.
Countering that, BLINKS argues that Blackpink is THE revolution as the group debuts their US performance at Coachella, being the first ever K-Pop group to be invited to play at the festival.
All over Twitter, the most used K-Pop conversing platform, ARMYs and BLINKS are constantly on a roll in slut-shaming, profanity, accusation of fake votes and any other kind of hate speech you can imagine. We’ve even seen racial attacks from one another. Come on, boys and girls, we don’t think your idols thought you that, right?
What makes it even more confusing is when the fandom fights within themselves! #SoloStans, are known to support and only love ONE member of the entire group which also causes a massive war within themselves. These fans attack members from the SAME GROUP with homophobic remarks or biasness from the label and more. Helllooooo? Who are you supporting again?
We guess it’s true when they say don’t mess with a K-Pop fan or they’ll POP your head. However, spreading hatred and belittling others on social media is definitely NOT COOL guys, NOT COOL! Our idols wouldn’t want us to shed blood and pull each other’s hair. Show love for your idols and spread that love while enjoying good music and amazing performances, shall we?
