With the gloomy weather and the news that KL is flooded yet again, I’m sure we all need a feel-good story to lighten up the mood. Fortunately, that story came all the way from Penang.

Kevin A/L Rayappan, 28, was stuck in the infamous Penang Bridge traffic on his way to his graduation ceremony at USM. Worried that he might miss it, Kevin made a judgement call by leaving his ride behind and attempted to hitchhike a motorcyclist kind enough to help him out.

Thankfully, a kind-hearted Samaritan stopped and volunteered to send Kevin all the way to USM, in hopes that he’ll make it in time for his ceremony. Hitchhiking while holding his ceremonial robe the whole way, Kevin arrived just in time to receive his scroll. Hooray!

Unfortunately due to timing issues, he never got to ask the man for his name. However, Kevin is grateful for his help as he may not have made it without the help of the Samaritan.

Recalling the event, Kevin claimed that he left his home together with his parents as early as 6:30 AM but was still trapped in the traffic congestion on the bridge for quite some time due to a fatal accident that occurred there earlier.

This news came as a breath of fresh air, especially after the devastating news of suicide cases and accidents on the Penang Bridge recently.
