Gone are the days Malaysians have to go to neighbouring countries or even the US or UK to catch awesome musicals.

Tremendous Entertainment, the company that brought us 'Phantom of the Opera' last year, is bringing 'Matilda The Musical' to Kuala Lumpur in June.

Coming to Istana Budaya soon
The Royal Shakespear Company has been successfully staging the musical since 2010, and has won 85 awards, including 16 for 'Best Musical', for the show.

It has played both in West End and Broadway, and taken several cities around the world by storm.

After nine years, the show is finally set to dazzle Malaysian audience!

Star-studded cast

Matilda was written by famed children's book writer Roald Dahl and follows the story of five-year-old Matilda, who loves reading and learning, but is suppressed by her TV-obsessed parents.

It's going to be magical
She learns that sometimes, one has to be 'a little bit naughty' to survive the world and manages to find ways to live with her family in peace. However. her life takes a turn for the worse when she's enrolled into a new school, run by the tyrannical Miss Trunchbull.

Despite that, she finds solace at the library and befriends several adults who encourage her to find her individuality.

The musical is enhanced by an award-winning team, with the witty original score written by Tim Minchin, playwright by Dennis Kelly, staging by Matthew Warchus and choreography by Peter Darling.

If you grew up reading Roald Dahl or even caught the movie version of 'Matilda', we're sure you're just as excited as us to get your hands on the tickets as soon as possible. Well, you can!
