We've seen plenty of those over the years; 'The Lion King', 'Aladdin' and the upcoming 'Mulan', to name a few.
Now, a production company is reportedly looking to reboot AND turn a beloved cartoon series into a live-action TV series.
To the rescue...again?
Entertainment website Variety reported that The CW, the studio behind classic TV shows such as 'One Tree Hill' and 'Charmed', is looking to give 'The Powerpuff Girls' a live-action treatment.According to the report, the reboot will see Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as "disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting".
Now that the world has come under threat again, the girls would have to reluctantly reunite once again to defeat the forces of evil.
Boy, this reboot sounds pretty dark, right?
Well, that's because the reboot will reportedly be helmed by Greg Berlanti, the same guy who created the Arrowverse for the production house with titles like 'Arrow', 'The Flash' and 'Supergirl'.
At the moment, there's no mention on who will be starring as our favourite crime fighting trio, or when the series will premiere.
But if it's being worked on by the mind behind some of the most interesting superhero series we have on TV right now, 'The Powerpuff Girls' is is in safe hands...until they decide to completely destroy it after Season One (yeah, we're looking at you, 'Supergirl'!).
The original 'The Powerpuff Girls' animated series premiered on Cartoon Network in 1998, spanning six years and 78 episodes.
It was followed by “The Powerpuff Girls Movie” in 2002, while a rebooted animated series began airing on Cartoon Network in 2016.
We're all up for some nostalgia, but we're praying that the grown-up Powerpuff Girls don't look like this:
