If you live to be 100-years-old, the last thing you’d probably be thinking of doing is to run a race.

However, age is just a number for 105-year-old Julia “Hurricane” Hawkins, who became the oldest competitive female sprinter in the world.

According to a report in Times Now News, her new record makes her the first-ever female track and field athlete to set a world record in the 100m for her age division.

She wants to run even faster

Despite that, Hawkins, who set a time of 1:02:95 for her feat, said she wants to run faster than that.

“It was wonderful to see so many family members and friends. But I wanted to do it in less than a minute,” she was quoted as saying.

According to a report in The Guardian, the retired teacher who took up running when she was 101, had previously set the 100m world record for women over the age of 100 with a time of 30:62.

“I love to run, and I love being an inspiration to others. I want to keep running as long as I can. My message to others is that you have to stay active if you want to be healthy and happy as you age," she was quoted as saying.

You go girl!
