It’s that time of the year once again. The point in time where you moan over all the time and money wasted, weight gained and look back on your achievements with just a lil’ bit of pride.

It’s also that time of the year where you realise you failed to accomplish most of the 2018 resolutions. Sigh.

As you list down new resolutions for 2019, here are 13 ideas for resolutions you can add to your list because...

.....2019 is the year you finally learn how to adult properly.

#1 Stop using the Malaysian timing excuse

You don't look like you're in your car
“Where are you ah?”
“On the way, on the way, on the way.”

30 minutes later...

“On the way, on the way, on the way!”

In reality, you know, your friend knows, and even the aunty next door also knows you've only left your house 15 minutes ago. 2019 is the year you stop doing this and learn how to respect your time and your friends’ time better.

#2 Stop wasting time

There goes 2018...
As a certain contractor in yellow boots says, “Don’t play play!”

We Malaysians have perfected the art of procrastination. You know the drill lah. You go on Facebook just to check the news and end up scrolling through a thousand Grumpy Cat memes, or you wait until the night before your Econs exam to study.

A word from those who’ve been there and done that; don’t do it. It's a trap!

#3 Stop splurging on Sephora products and Starbucks frappuccinos.

...until you realise you have no more money.
It's hard to resist those 70 per cent sales, or those buy one, free one promos, but guys, at least try to do that in 2018. With the rising cost of living, it's always a good idea to save some money for rainy days.

#4 Never double park for the rest of my life

I’ll just be gone for 1 minute, promise.
There's no good excuse to double park. Sure, it's pretty difficult to look for a parking spot sometimes, but you'll eventually get one. In 2019, we want you to stop double parking because, to be honest, it's annoying af!

#5 Won’t make the lipsmacking kissy sound at mamak waiters

Unless you look like Channing Tatum, then maybe can.
... because mamak waiters are worthy of our respect so let’s stop smacking our lips at them and thank them while we’re at it.

#6 Stop potong-ing the queue

And not in a good way.
Resist the urge to jump the queue and beratur betul-betul as a Malaysian with good manners. No excuses. Not when you’re rushing for work, not at the toll, not at the school canteen, and definitely not at the ATM. Remember: manners maketh man.

#7 Throw rubbish in the tong sampah properly (where it’s supposed to be)

It's not a museum art piece.
Otherwise, what’s the tong sampah for, right? On that note, let’s also stop sticking chewing gums under tables and on chairs, as well as litter all over the place.

#8 Speak proper English instead of using a super secret bahasa rojak

What we think you sound like..
Instead of making major Engrish fails, speak the Queen’s English and stop inserting “lahs” and “mahs” into our daily convos if you can... at least when you remember to do so lah.

#9 Cut down on nasi lemak, roti canai and fried chicken

As long as it's a good hurt.
...and start exercising more. We know it's hard to do, especially in a country where the food is so good, but let 2019 be the year you get rid of the love handles. Oh and also, don’t make it a point to tweet, Instagram, and Facebook every single gym session with 25 hashtags and inspirational quotes.

#10 Use the car horn reasonably

Tame that honk monster.
We didn't know when this became Malaysia's favourite pasttime, but we want this to stop. It's fine to honk if someone's blocking your car, but two seconds after the traffic lights turn green? Hand itchy, issit?

#11 Stop getting triggered so easily on social media

Not a good look on you.
With the flood of questionable stuff which happened on social media this year, 2018 has shown us just how messed up the world sometimes is. It's easy to get carried away with our outrage. In the coming year, let’s not jump on the bandwagon and scream, “Boycott!” before we understand the full situation.

#12 Be. Yo. Self.

Be fabulous..
Fear of missing out is real but don’t be afraid to be different. Hopping on trends just 'cos errbody’s doing it will only lead to regret. You should stay true to yourself even if it means not having a squad or a pretty bullet journal. You don't need to please other people. Just do your own thing.

#13 Stop broadcasting your life to the rest of the world and hashtagging everything

#stop
Live boldly and bravely ‘cos yes, you only live once. It’s alright to live life to the fullest without broadcasting it on social media for all to see, or abusing hashtags, but if that’s your goal in life, we won’t judge you for that. Just don't overdo it because it's #So2018.

So, whatever happens, we at Rojak Daily wish that you grab 2019 by its horns and show it who's boss.

Here’s to 2019, a new year full of epic hopes and mistakes!
