Ordering food through an app can be extremely convenient, especially when you lead a busy life.

However, when technical glitches happen, it can also get extremely messy very fast, as this poor girl from the Philippines learned the hard way recently.

An honest mistake

A seven-year-old girl received a whole lot of food orders when the app she normally uses to order food online decided to glitch out.

According to SunStar Cebu, the unfortunate incident happened on 25 November when the girl wanted order some chicken cutlets for herself and her grandmother, as her parents were away at work.

In fact, it was her parents who left the smartphone for her to order some lunch, and she has reportedly ordered food using the Foodpanda app numerous times before that.

Not what she wanted, obviously.
Unfortunately, a sluggish internet connection and erratic app activity led to the girl placing multiple orders.

It also didn’t help that the girl tapped on the app many times when it malfunctioned.

So, imagine her shock and surprise when 42 food delivery riders turned up at her house with the same order, clogging the small lane leading up to her place.

The bill came up to PHP7,945.25 (RM674), and the girl was visibly upset when the riders turned up, her neighbour Dann Kayne Suarez told the news portal.

There was a happy ending to the chaos though, as the neighbours banded together to buy the excess orders from the Foodpanda riders.

Now, that would be a great story to tell her friends at kindergarten! That poor little girl.
