While us Malaysians always complain about our own country and frequently jet off to other places any chance that we can get, Tiffany Werner’s TikTok videos recently opened our eyes to how lucky we should count ourselves.

Despite the USA being ranked as by far the world’s largest economy and Malaysia frequently being referred to as a ‘third world country’, there are certain places and amenities that we don’t even think twice about aren’t even available there.

After all, Malaysians are talented folk, and innovations such as pen drives and face masks were actually invented by locals.

Tiffany Werner, a travel blogger, found her videos going viral recently when she covered various thing she found surprising about Malaysia through her videos. She took a trip to our country on 31 May for six days with her family.

When they arrived in their Airbnb they were already impressed by the modern design and facilities of their accommodation.

She was truly blown away when they started exploring the city and when she stepped foot into KLCC, saying “We’re in one of the biggest malls I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve never even seen anything like this, even in New York City” She hasn’t even seen 1 Utama yet!

Various videos of her trying different food and exploring tourist hotspots has amassed thousands of views but the following was a top hit with 2.7 million views so far.

She said, “For all my people in America who think I’m in some third-world country, does this look third-world to you?” Her video than panned to an inside shot of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, one of the country’s most luxurious shopping centres, also known for its impressive central atrium. She continued saying, “We have nothing like this where we’re from.”

American Twitter users have chimed in on the videos and how they’re helping to clear up some misconceptions about our home country.
Malaysians love her enthusiasm for our homeland but one user jokingly left comments on her video saying, “Unfortunately...some people still think that our houses are on trees lol...YES I'M FRIENDS WITH THE ORANG UTAN and I GO TO SCHOOL BY CROCODILES ??️”

Tiffany also brought her children to the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, calling it a “dream world for kids.” She was taken aback by the size of the attractions and the rides, while most KL folk don’t think twice about the place.

Many Malaysians commented asking her to check out the newer Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park in Resorts World Genting instead.

She was also fascinated by our majestic Istana Negara, the efficiency of our Grab food service and more.
She ended her stay in the country with a video saying, “I’m just so mad at myself. I’m mad because I’m only here for six days. So I’m already looking for a plane ticket back over here.”
@tiffanywernertraveling I will be back!! Thank you for all the love and support! #kl #fyp #malaysia @Werner family travel ♬ original sound - Werner family travel

We hope all Malaysians can be more patriotic and proud of our country. After all, we have so much to offer!
