Apple Has Given Up on Making Good Webcams. Use Your Phone Instead.
The webcams on Apple computers have always been... disappointing to say the least. Given the premium that Malaysians have to pay to own Apple computers and the fact that Apple seems to be able to create powerful cameras for their phones and iPads, its baffling that a better webcam hasn't come along. With this feature, Apple is announcing that they're completely abandoning the idea of ever making a good webcam for their laptops https://t.co/fvbr3uCTY2— Rojak Daily (@RojakDaily) June 7, 2022
In fact, there wasn't even a 1080p camera on an Apple computer till 2021! And that's only if you're willing to pay RM8,799 for the 14-inch Macbook Pro, not the RM5,699 13-inch MacBook Pro (THAT STILL HAS A 720P CAMERA).
Well, the wait is over. At WWDC recently, Apple revealed an update to macOS and iOS called Camera Continuity that will allow users to pair their phones with macOS apps like Zoom and Microsoft Teams and use their phones as cameras instead.
Their even working with Belkin to create the stand which will be available later this year.
While there were many exciting announcements at WWDC, like the M2 chip, the new MacBook Air, and iOS 16, the fact that this billion-dollar corporation thinks that you should strap your phone to the top of your screen to get a decent-quality camera feed is just.... we just can't with this news.
Our predictions for the pricing of this accessory to paste your phone on a laptop? RM99. Strap an iPad to the top of your laptop with a bigger holder at RM199.
