Truth be told, the metal and paper straws movement is something driven by sheer hype. Combine that and a little ego boost of whipping out your shiny reusable metal straws while others empty their iced coffee cups with a plastic straw, you get the renowned “save the turtle” hash tag!

Pretentious or not, in this case, the means does justify the end. We need to do everything that we possibly can to reduce the amount of waste in landfills and the sea. So flaunt your metal straws up high for the world to see!

But that is not the only thing that we can do. There are numerous numbers of ways that we can contribute to a greener earth. One that we’ve been taught to do since primary school is of course recycling.

And we couldn’t agree more. It’s rather mind boggling that we are okay with chopping down trees just to make way for another high end, high-rise building that almost no one could afford.

Changes are difficult, but it’s not impossible. If you are lazy to sort out your trash, then maybe start by separating the easy ones like paper. Once you get the hang of it, move on to doing ketchup bottles, sardine cans and items that needs a little cleaning before you have them recycled.

We wish you the very best of luck and to leave you feeling more inspired; catch Hello I Have Issues Season 3 with guest Sue Yee from Zero Waste Malaysia. She will be sharing the story of how she simplified her life by reducing waste and we hope you will too!
