We are all aware that we have to refrain from engaging in unnecessary physical contact as much as we can during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adhering to this "blanket rule", Canada's chief public health officer has issued an interesting nasihat to people who are looking to get physical and still stay safe.

In a statement, Dr Theresa Tam advised Canadians to not only wear condoms but to also wear face masks when having sex.

Do it without getting too close

“Sex can be complicated in the time of COVID-19, especially for those without an intimate partner in their household or whose sexual partner is at higher risk for COVID-19.”

“Like other activities during COVID-19 that involve physical closeness, there are some things you can do to minimise the risk of getting infected and spreading the virus,” said Dr Theresa.

According to Malay Mail, the statement was posted on Canada’s Public Health Agency website.



Additionally, Dr Theresa also said that refraining from having sex altogether with partners that have symptoms was probably still the safest bet.

She went on to say that kissing should be skipped and face-to-face contact or closeness should be avoided.
