We've seen plenty of strange reasons for couples asking for a breakup.

This, however, could be the strangest one yet.

Too little savings?

Last week, several screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation between a man and his girlfriend (maybe ex-girlfriend now) made its rounds on social media.

According to the screenshots, the girlfriend complained that the 27-year-old man only had RM50,000 in his savings.

That amount is not enough for her, and it's just simply too little.

"You are already 27 years old, but only saved 50k, cannot leh.

"My friends eat Hai Di Lao every day but you only bring me there once a month," the post read.

On top of that, she was also not happy that the man earns just RM4,000 to RM5,000 a month.

"What do you take me for?" she asked.

When the man, who's probably stunned at this point, asked the woman how much savings is enough for her, she said she doesn't know, but she felt that RM50,000 can be depleted in a month.

"I don't think you can provide me with the kind of life I want, sorry," she further wrote

Wanted to break up sooner

The conversation further revealed that the woman had been thinking about breaking up for a while now, but she was concerned that her relatives would ask her about her relationship status during Chinese New Year.

She added that she was being considerate to the man by initiating a break up after the festive period.

The post has been shared more than 13,000 times on Facebook and garnered more than 3,700 comments - most of them providing support for the man and criticising the woman for her reason to initiate a break up.

However, there were those who questioned the authenticity of the post as being an advertisement for Hai Di Lao, as the screenshots were shared by a broadcasting and media production company, Asia MCN.

Well, we ain't saying she's a gold digger...
