Unless your car is really old, it probably comes equipped with an electrically-operated power window that goes up and down with the tap of a BUTTON. More ancient cars come with a crank which is a real pain anytime you go somewhere with a drive-thru.

However, you’ve probably encountered a problem with the window at sometime or another, with it not being able to go up or down automatically.

This is pretty dangerous if you’re parked in a deserted area or if it’s at night and the rain might get into your car.

One of the causes of this problem might be because the automatic window gets reset when you replace your vehicle’s battery.

The automatic window is linked to the battery?

This is because the automatic window function relies on a sensor and electrical components to interpret when a window is open or closed. Therefore, replacing your car’s electrical power source can mess with these settings. It may also mess with your radio’s settings.

Before you panic and head to your trusted mechanic, TikTok user Altimat Auto Garage shared a handy tip:
  1. Simply press the button of the window and hold it down for 10 seconds.
  2. Then pull it upwards for 10 seconds.
  3. It should probably work now and you can repeat the process with the other window keys! But if it doesn’t then, there might be an issue with the switch because the car is too old and you may have to replace it completely (this happened with my 2004 Kelisa lately which set me back RM130).
