What is your dream wedding? A beach wedding? A garden-themed one? For influencer Naim Zafran’s wife Elmi, it was a Harry Potter one as the series is her favourite.

Although his favourite series is Game of Thrones, he explained that Elmi had dreamed of a Harry Potter-themed wedding since day 1 of their courtship and he simply followed her wishes because as he wisely said, “happy wife, happy life.”

In a viral TikTok video which has since amassed 1.5M views as of the time of writing, Naim shared details of their gorgeous nuptials which will wow any Potterhead.

Their wedding venue was decked out with elements of the world of Harry Potter while remaining elegant and unlike a child’s birthday party.

We love the small touches and the amount of thought they put into their wedding such as scattering Golden Snitches (what appears to be Ferrero Rocher chocolate with wings) throughout the hall to let guests search for them. There were only 200 ‘Golden Snitches’ while there were 500 guests which kept it fun.

There were also ‘moving’ newspapers like in the movies (it is uncertain how they achieved this) and books with the Platform 9 ¾ symbol artfully placed on the dining tables.

Naim also explained that they had their wedding logo designed by his cousin, which had a red background like Gryffindor’s house colour. There was also a bird to symbolise Ravenclaw for Naim’s house and a lion to symbolise Gryffindor for Elmi’s house. There is also the quote, “After all this time? Always”, which Professor Snape uses to declare his love for Harry’s mum, Lily.

Like how Hogwarts students are placed into their respective houses using the Sorting Hat, there was an image of this at the registration table where guests were sorted according to the couple’s friend groups.

Their wedding planner also designed a photo booth with the print of the Marauder’s Map as the backdrop but with the words ‘Naim & Elmi 31.12.2023’ instead. There were also Hogwarts scarves decorating the booth.

Naim is such a great wingman, he also showed a picture of his best men which he cheekily captioned ‘mostly single by the way’. They appeared to be wearing suits with a Hogwarts school logo pinned on it.

There was a smoke machine when the couple entered the hall to create a magical ambience which appeared like mist shrouding the castle in the movies.

Instead of round tables that you usually see at weddings, they also had long banquet tables like the ones in the Great Hall where students are seated according to their houses.

They placed their wedding logo everywhere including on top of the pelamin. We love how they faithfully stuck to the theme while remaining tasteful!

For anyone dreaming of a similar wedding, Naim thoughtfully shared details of how much their wedding cost which was RM50,000 in total. The hall rental, catering, and décor cost RM40,000; the bridal gown RM4,500; while the photography, makeup, and inai cost RM5,500. We must say it was worth every penny!

As a Potterhead myself, I know I wouldn’t mind having this wedding too! We wish the couple every happiness!
