Currently in America, riots have erupted nationwide because of the wrongful death of George Floyd, who died after a police officer stuck his knee on Floyd’s neck despite him pleading that he was suffocating.

The harrowing incident was recorded and went viral, attracting global attention.

A lot of people from all walks of life have voiced their thoughts on the matter, including former Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 contestant, Samantha Katie James.

Samantha claims that she's also white.
Samantha recently posted her thoughts about the Black activism and riots that are happening in the US, on her Instagram stories which unfortunately, did not sit well with many netizens.

Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid?

She says that she “doesn’t live in America” and it has nothing to do with her, but to her, it seems that the white people have won as people are responding with rage and anguish to the current issue.

The actress added that those who have nothing to do with the issue should not be concerned about it or be a “busy body”.

But what pushed netizens to the edge was what she has to say about the African Americans who are fighting against injustice in America.

“To the Black people, relax. Take it as a challenge, makes you stronger,” Samantha wrote.

“You chose to be born as a ‘coloured’ person in America for a reason. To learn a certain lesson.”

“Accept it as it is, till now hunger and poverty still exists. It is what it is. It’s inevitable. Best you can do is remain calm, protect heart, and don’t allow it to crumble.”

However, there were also some who sided with the beauty queen after she shared screenshots of conversation with those who replied to her stories.

Wrath of Netizens

Some netizens also have claimed to report her to the MUMO to get her title revoked.
Over on Twitter, Samantha became the talk of the social media site, and the term ‘Miss Universe Malaysia’ is also currently trending.

Netizens were livid, as someone of her influence would say such a thing while others were disappointed that she didn’t use her platform for a greater cause.

Some also questioned how was she selected to represent Malaysia in the Miss Universe pageant in the first place and urged that she do more reading about the social injustice that’s currently going on in the world.

The Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation has yet to respond or issue any statement regarding the actions of its former beauty queen to date.
