If you think Malaysia’s iconic buildings or architectural pieces only revolve around the very popular the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, Tugu Negara and the Penang Bridge, it’s time to widen your horizons.

Malaysia is actually home to many more interesting architectural structures that you may haven’t had the chance to explore. At least, not just yet!

One such architecture is the Terengganu Drawbridge.

According to the attraction’s website, the bridge has four main features including the tower, the bascule, the skybridge and the pile-caps.

The website said the tower bridge is 638 metres in length and the 76-meter bascule is the longest ever built on a tower bridge.

The website added that the purpose of the tower drawbridge is to provide a road link between the development of the North and South Estuaries and Kuala Terengganu.

“This will reduce traffic congestion and disperse traffic in the urban areas.

“It will also provide faster alternate routes or entrances from the airport to the city.”

Visitors could take in a breathtaking view of Kuala Terengganu through the glass panes of the aloft walkways.

It's possible to dine atop the drawbridge and it was a popular spot to buka puasa recently. There are also tours under the bridge to learn technical details about the ingenuity of the drawbridge.
