Living in a country that is a melting pot of culture like Malaysia, it is safe to say that we are very open and exposed to a variety of festive seasons.

One particular season that is slowly creeping up is the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is another important festival celebrated by the Chinese in the eighth month according to the lunar calendar.

Besides playing with colourful lanterns, bright candles and sitting under the brightest and roundest full moon of the year, a popular tradition is eating mooncakes.

So this year, Starbucks Malaysia has decided to continue the tradition by reimagining the mooncake using their signature espresso flavour.

Introducing the new flavours, as well as a returning favourite!

Look at the colours!
Espresso Chestnut, wrapped in traditional Cantonese mooncake skin that has been infused with the rich flavours of Starbucks' espresso coffee, this mooncake is filled with coffee-flavoured lotus paste and a nutty chestnut mung bean filling.

Coffee Mixed Nuts, this mooncake uses espresso to create a coffee-flavoured mooncake skin with a filling of mixed nuts, caramel lotus and chewy dried fruit filling, full of crunch with every bite.

Tiramisu, inspired by the traditional Italian dessert, this mooncake is filled with coffee-flavoured lotus paste, and a unique and delectable cheese filling texture of mung bean paste, perfect for Tiramisu lovers.

Green Tea Key Lime, this mooncake is made using premium green tea with lotus and key lime to create a juicy centre. It is then wrapped with an aromatic pastry made of Japanese matcha powder, a perfect combination of Japanese flair with a hint of refreshing citrus.

The four flavours all come packed in a beautiful box which incorporates purple and gold, colours associated with wisdom and compassion. The colours also symbolise the night sky during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Lastly, the moon rabbit featured in the design represents longevity and prosperity, according to traditional Chinese folklore. All the elements form a wholesome circle to symbolise the full moon and family reunion during this auspicious season.

And to make the festival even more exciting, Starbucks also launched the new 'Sailing to the Moon' merchandise series inspired by the full moon, with designs featuring the night sky, different faces of the moon, and the symbolic rabbits incorporated into various selections of water bottles, tumblers and mugs.

We need these.
The Starbucks Mooncake 2019 is available at RM88, while the Starbucks Mid-Autumn Festival merchandise collection starts from RM58.

You can get them all at Starbucks stores across Malaysia now!
