You thought wrong, fellow boba tea lover.
If this latest product is any indication, the boba craze is still alive and well, thank you very much.
According to Japanese website PR Times, British tea brand Lipton has released its version of bubble tea ice cream in the land of Japan.
The ice cream is the outcome of a collaboration between Unilever, which owns the tea brand, and Japanese dessert manufacturing company, Akagi Dairy Co. Ltd.
The report described the ice cream as having two layers: a hard outer layer, and a softer cream-like filling on the inside.
As you might have guessed, the outer layer is Lipton milk tea-flavoured.
However, there’s a nice little surprise inside. As you bite into the ice cream, you will find chewy black tapioca pearls inside.
The brand claims that the pearls will remain chewy just like mochi, even if the ice cream is kept in the freezer.
It was officially launched on 18 November, and it retails in Japan stores for around 140 yen (RM5.35).
