It's been a very long wait, boys and girls, but it's going to be over soon!

The giant robot battle between the US of A and Japan is reportedly happening this year, according to a report by The Verge.

The founders of MegaBots originally challenged their Japanese counterparts, Suidobashi Heavy Industries, to a full-on, mecha vs mecha battle back in 2015 via a YouTube video.

"Suidobashi, we have a giant robot, you have a giant robot. You know what needs to happen. We challenge you to a duel," MegaBots said in the video.

Suidobashi's CEO Kogoro Kurata accepted the challenge, and the giant robot match was supposed to take place one year after the challenge was made. However, the fight was reportedly delayed due to a venue problem.

Then, MegaBots uploaded a video on their YouTube page last Wednesday claiming that the fight is on and they even gave a rough date for the event: August 2017.

The venue of the duel is kept a secret at the moment - MegaBots wanted to “prevent any further potential delays” - but more details will be revealed soon.

Team USA will be represented by the MegaBot Mark II, a 4.5-meter tall, 6,000kg monster that is capable of shooting 1kg paint cannonballs at over 160km/h.

Meanwhile, fighting for Team Japan will be The Kurakas, a super canggih 3-meter tall robot that boasts two gatling guns and equipped with a full heads-up display and highly advanced targeting system ala Iron Man.

We seriously can't wait for the two bots to get down and dirty in a free-for-all fight.

Who do you think will win the battle of the bots? Team Japan or Team USA?
