Earlier this year, Acer announced the eKinekt BD 3, a bike that would charge your devices with kinetic energy and would launch in June 2023. It's now the 20th and no one has written or covered the bike in a hands on (that we know of). Though it's listed for RM4,500 on Acer Gadget, there's no way to purchase it from this site or any other site we've seen.

A device that does exist and is equally puzzling however, is the new Acerpure Water and Air Purifier. It seems like a pretty bizarre deviation for us, and we were surprised to find out that the company has already introduced air purifiers, circulators, and cordless vacuums under their Acerpure subsidiary.

We were also surprised to find out that they sell electronic prayer beads, e-scooters, and home bike trainers (they turn your bike to a stationary bike at home). Maybe we didn't really know Acer at all.

Acerpure Aqua WP1 Water Purifier

What piqued our interest is the fact Acerpure Aqua WP1 has a detachable 8.7-litre water tank which eliminates the need for complicated piping installations. This means you can place it in your living room, the second floor of your home and even the bedroom coupled with a minimalistic white design that pretty much fits in anywhere. There doesn’t seem to be much info on their website, but if one must refill the 8.7-litre tank every time it empties, that seems like a whole lot of hassle.

But as this writer’s kitchen is too tiny to have a space right next to the sink to fit in a water filter, I might consider getting this device.

We don’t really buy into the hype personally, but you can also choose to have hydrogen water, which certain studies show may help to increase the central nervous system functions involving mood, anxiety, and autonomic nerve function.

The device comes with the levels of water pre-sets of cold, ambient, and hot. And if you’re an aspiring barista wanting to whip up the perfect cup of coffee, select your desired precise temperature between 40°C and 95°C.

Meanwhile, pre-set volumes of 150ml, 300ml, and 500ml enable users to fill up precise amounts of water with just a single touch and allow adjustments of 50ml increments between 150ml and 500ml for finer control.

Acerpure Aqua WP1 water purifier comes with 2 years carry-in local warranty and is priced at RM3,599. The price seems to be on the higher side for water filters so only time will tell once reviews come out if it’s worth it.

If you have social anxiety and prefer to meet people as seldom as possible, users can purchase replacement filters once the indicator light turns on from Acer eStore or select authorised stores instead of worrying about scheduling service appointments.

Acerpure Pro P2 Classic Air Purifier

Acerpure Pro P2 Classic Air Purifier

All the phobia surrounding COVID-19 has caused an increase in popularity in air purifiers. Acer also debuted the Acerpure Pro P2 Classic Acerpure Pro P2 Classic air purifier which features a powerful filtration system with a 3-in-1 + HEPA filter. We were also astonished to find out that it isn’t the first air purifier from Acer.

It claims to be able to eliminate 99% formaldehyde and trap 99.9% of PM2.5 particles to ensure a cleaner and healthier indoor environment. Because we scored badly for our science subjects in SPM, we had to google what that means and according to the National Cancer Institute, formaldehyde which comes from car emissions and unvented fuel-burning appliances such as gas stoves can cause cancer. *Great, another new fear unlocked*. Meanwhile, PM2.5 refers to particle pollution which typically can’t be seen with the naked eye and causes health problems.

It retails at RM899, which seems to be a decent price to fork out compared to models such as the Samsung Air Purifier which goes for RM1,699.

Side note: Doesn't this model look like an Asian version of Professor Snape?
