It's a sad reality, but a lot of businesses have been forced to close down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


The latest to join the list in a little bookshop located in Ampang.

Business has been bad

Malay Mail reported that Reader's Paradise, a small neighbourhood bookstore located inside Ampang Point, was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As such, they will be offering a 50 per cent discount on all books until the first week of July.


Its owner, Harjeet Sidhu, told the news portal that he would be shutting down Reader's Paradise by mid-July after operating for almost six years.

The 62-year-old said that the bookshop has been struggling to stay afloat, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he was left with no choice to close it down and sell the books at a discounted price.

“The remainder of the books that have not been sold would be donated to charities,” he was quoted as saying.


Reader's Paradise, said Harjeet, started off as rental-based platform where readers were able to rent books from a range of RM7 to RM10 for a month.

However, as Malaysians generally do not read a lot and people are shifting towards reading e-books, business was not good, but Harjeet wanted to continue because of his passion for books.
