Social media is a wonderful thing.

We've seen it being put to good use, especially during this pandemic, but we've also seen how social media has been used for nothing good.

Sadly, this story is a case about the latter.

Unnecessary attention?

A Malaysian influencer has been at the receiving end of netizens' ire after he uploaded a video of his friend’s funeral.

In the 3-minute, 35-second video uploaded onto his social media page, Hafiz Mahamad was seen arriving at the airport, going to the morgue to pick up his friend's remains, driving a funeral van and ended with him burying the body.

Throughout the video, the camera mostly focused on Hafiz's uncontrollable emotions.

Hafiz described, in the post, his special friendship with his friend named Loh, and how he's having a difficult time accepting his death.

Loh reportedly suffered a stroke back in September but passed away on 22 December.

While netizens felt sorry for Hafiz's loss, many claimed that Hafiz was being insincere and insensitive to his friend’s death because he posted it online to his followers.

Despite the online criticism, there are those who feel that Hafiz’s intention was genuine.

While we think that Hafiz genuinely wanted to pay tribute to his fallen friend, we felt that there's always a better way to honour a friend.

What do you guys think about this issue? Was it necessary for him to document his friend's funeral?
