We've read plenty of heart-warming stories about loved ones reuniting when the international borders were reopened recently.

This one could be the most heart-warming one yet.

A touching scene

The Larkin Sentral bus station was a scene of a surprise proposal when a Malaysian man dropped down to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend upon arrival recently.

Tomken Wong shared a photo of him popping the question on Facebook last Thursday (13 January):

According to Wong, he couldn't contain his excitement when he was finally able to return to Malaysia (and into his girlfriend's arms) after spending 655 days apart.

"When I was waiting at Woodlands bus interchange, I was so excited to meet my girlfriend, I couldn’t control myself," he wrote.

Wong, who's been working in Singapore for the past 13 years, shared that he initially wanted to to pop the question in Japan with the help of his family and friends, but he had to delay it as a result of the pandemic.

But when both the Malaysian and Singaporean governments announced the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) back in November 2021, he decided to just go for it.

The moment Wong saw his girlfriend, he immediately got down on one knee and popped the question to his very surprised girlfriend.

And in case you're wondering how that turned out, she said yes!

Congratulations, you two! This is such a happy ending.
