However, that did not stop Malaysians from finding ways to make things look and feel a little bit normal:

And recently, a group of Malaysian gamers came together to attend a traditional Malay wedding - in a video game.

Wedding of the year?

One of the gamers who participated in the virtual wedding, Noor Azwan Mohd Noor, told Malay Mail that the wedding was performed in the popular video game 'Grand Theft Auto V'.

As the game allows custom modifications, Noor Azwan said that they could modify the game to create an accurate depiction of a traditional Malay wedding, down to the wedding attires and costume.

In fact, the virtual wedding included marquees, tables and chairs, a buffet line and a dais.

The players were divided into two groups: one representing the groom, and the other representing the bride.

The wedding started with the groom's entourage, decked in yellow attire, marching to the entrance of the bride’s home, where both parties exchanged a pantun before the groom’s side was invited to enter.

And just like a real traditional Malay wedding, there were entertainment lined up to entertain the bride and the groom: a silat performance and a dance number performed by the groom's entourage.

Our favourite bit though? The players who dressed in RELA uniforms, you know, to keep the peace:

Noor Azwan said that there were about 40 to 50 players involved with the wedding, and the modifications were made from scratch by fellow Malaysian gamers Arief Solehin and Isma Danial.
