If you're a fan of the local racing scene, then you'll know the name R3.
Founded by local automaker Proton back in 2003, the R3 brand -- which stands for Race Rally Research -- has been synonymous with the local motorsport scene.
The brand has been pretty quiet these days, but guess what? They're back!

Return of R3

On Saturday (22 January), R3 launched a new range of merchandise and premium lubricants to revive the brand, which is now parked under Proton Global Services (PGS), a fully-owned subsidiary of Proton Edar.
The public was given a sneak peek of the new line of merchandise and premium lubricants during a launching ceremony held at Setia Gemilang Auto, which officially became the first R3 Premium Merchandise Partner in the country.
Fans of the iconic R3 brand can get their hands on a variety of R3-branded apparel, ranging from dry-fit polo shirts to cotton round-neck T-shirts to caps.
The apparel line is priced from RM49 to RM60.
Here's the full list of apparel you can get your hands on at the moment:
For those who want a little more roar for their engine, R3 also launched two premium lubricants: the P1 fully-synthetic engine oil (SAE 5W-30) and the P2 semi-synthetic (SAE 10W-30).
According to Proton, the P1 and P2 premium lubricants are developed together with Petronas, and were formulated using the brand's Etro 6+ base oil, which was designed to fight the excessive heat our climate is known for.
The P1 fully-synthetic engine oil is priced at RM208 for a four-litre bottle, while the P2 semi-synthetic oil retails for RM158. However, there's a promotion that runs until 30 April which sees the lubricants being sold at RM178 and RM128 respectively.
You can buy the new R3 merchandise and lubricants at 20 Proton dealerships across the country:
