(OK lah, we're exagerrating, but those who are always ruining their part of workout shoes will know the struggle)

There are just so many different models to pick from - and the jargons that you have to go through, ZOMG - and picking the right one can be quite a tedious task.

If you're currently in the market for a good pair of running shoes that doesn't hurt your bank account, you need to take a serious look at the Reebok Liquifect.

We recently gave the Reebok Liquifect a try, and here's our honest review:

Styling

We have to say, the Reebok Liquifect is a pretty good looking shoe. It features a two-tone mesh upper with a knitted look, which reminds us a lot of the more expensive Primeknit material on a pair of Adidas Ultraboost or Nike's Flyknit.

The pair we got has a black upper, white midsole with subtle ridges, a grey outsole on the heel and a striking blue-white Reebok logo. The colour combination goes really well together, making it a pair of aesthetically-pleasing running shoes.

Reebok positions the the Liquifect as pair of running shoes that you wear to the gym, and then out for a café-hopping session with your friends. Will we use the Reebok Liquifect as an everyday, everywhere pair of shoes? We seriously don't mind, which says a lot for someone who seperates his workout shoes from 'go out' shoes.

Comfort

Our current workout kicks is a pair of Nike Free Run, and the biggest complain we have is 1) the fit of the shoe is a little bit too tight even if it's true to size and 2) the cushioning wears off after repeated beatings.

The Reebok Liquifect fixes the two issues - well, sort of.

Let's talk about the fit. We love the fit we get from the Reebok Liquifect. Because the upper is made with a knitted material, you'll feel like you're a putting on a pair of socks. The fit is really snug and comfortable, as the upper wraps around your foot tightly. Having said that, the toe box is spacious enough for you to move your toes around, and they won't be rubbing against each other when you're running.

Now, the cushioning bit. We'll just get this out of the way first, you know, in case you guys love comparisons: no running shoe will be as comfortable as the Adidas Ultraboost. Period. It should be considered a win if your feet don't hurt after a 5km run.

The Reebok Liquifect is one of those shoes.

The overall cushioning on the shoe is pretty good. We took the shoe to a threadmill and gave it a good 45-minute run, and we were surprised by how responsive the cushioning felt. By the end of the run, our foot didn't hurt that bad, so it meant that the cushioning did its job.

A large part of the effectiveness comes from Reebok's brand new tech called Liquifect. According to them, the material is made of IPU-injected polyurethane, and it is injected into the heel area to provide the ultimate comfort. In fact, Reebok said the Liquifect tech will last a long time, so your pair of Reebok Liquifect will stay as comfortable until the day you can't run anymore.

Our only issue is that the cushioning is a little bit thin in the forefoot area. You will feel that your forefoot hitting the ground more when you run, and if you have some known issues with your forefoot, it might not be a comfortable experience after you come back from a long run.

Performance

We had our pair of Reebok Liquifect for more than a week, and after several gym visits and runs and jogs, the shoe held up really good.

We still enjoyed running the threadmill with the Reebok Liquifect, and the cushioning system still does it job really well without it going out of shape like the pair of Nike Free Run did (although, it's hard to say how long it'll stay that way because the Reebok Liquifect is one week old and our Nike Free Run is plus-minus two years old).

One thing we definitely noticed is that our feet hurt less, especially at the heel area, after each run or gym session. That, we feel, boils down to the whole Liquifect tech we mentioned above, and how effective it is absorbing all the impact during a run.

The sole of the shoes is made entirely out of rubber, so the traction is A plus. We haven't really tried hiking or running on a wet surface, so we can't personally say how it performs in those conditions, but judging by how 'sticky' it feels, we reckon it shouldn't be a problem.

Verdict

As a pair of running shoes, the Reebok Liquifect has the whole package: the style, the comfort and the performance to boot. Also, the price tag is a big plus too.

If you're looking for a pair of workout shoes as part of your 2020 resolution - or you want to get into casual running/jogging - you really can't go wrong with the Reebok Liquifect.

Sure, you can't compare it with the performance of, say, a pair of Adidas Ultraboost or Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next%, but at half its price and almost the same level of performance, we would say that it's a pretty damn good deal.
