The pressures of everyday life, dealing with that crazy demanding boss, stressing over embarrassing hit and miss love experiences, the need to finish binge-watching that latest series that everyone is talking about dan sebagainya.

It's sometimes so difficult to find the time, energy AND nerve for love, and this could be why many Malaysians are turning to dating apps to find a special connection.

According to a report by MSN.com quoting The Rakyat Post, Malaysians spent a total of RM24mil on online dating apps last year alone.

That's a lot of money!

Money spent on dating apps has increased

This number has almost doubled compared to the RM13 million that was spent in 2017.

While there are several free options around, it seems like Malaysians don't mind forking out money for a chance at love (maybe the quality of candidates are better? Do let us know if this is the case).

According to the report by App Annie, the most popular dating apps in the country are Tinder, Tantan, Dating.com, Blued and Omi.

Tinder topping the charts.

Of course, Malaysians are not the only ones who turn to our devices to look for love. It is a trend that has been growing globally.

In fact, a total of RM9bil was spent on dating apps worldwide in 2019!

The big spenders in this region include Singaporeans, who forked out RM29mil, and Indonesians, who spent RM24mil last year alone.

We guess if you wanna win big (in terms of love), you've got to spend big!
