Shell’s New FuelSave 95 Claims To “Last Up to 15km Longer” and Provides “Deeper Clean” for Engines
In a swanky product launch event, Shell Malaysia unveiled its newest formulation for its RON 95 range: the new and improved Shell FuelSave 95 which it claims lasts up to 15KM longer per tank.
Speaking at the event, General Manager of Mobility, Malaysia Seow Lee Ming said that it took over five years of extensive research and tests by 150 sceintist around the world to perfect this new "recipe".
How does the new FuelSave 95 work?
We asked the scientist in attendance for the name or new technology that... fuels the new 95 petrol and she mentioned that it was a proprietary technology. But the gist of it is that the new formulation provides a depper clean for a cleaner engine.
The fuel targets deposits in engines (deposits build over time and hinder performance) and deep cleans and protects it from further deposit build up.
This is supposed to create a more efficient engine which results in better mileage.
It's difficult to parse the marketing speak from the actual science so we'll have to test out the claims of extra fuel saving. This writer in particular has a gas guzzling Saga 1.6 so it'll be fun to try it out.
Just for your reference, Caltex Premium 95 shares the same language in their marketing materials claiming a "Clean & Glide™ Technology that keeps your engines clean, and running efficiently and smoothly" while Petronas claims "Cleaner fuel for both the environment and engine." Petron goes full on saying "It contains a highly effective detergent additive that keeps clean the engine’s fuel injectors and intake valves to maintain efficient and smooth operation."
Is it all hype? We'll find out in a few weeks.
