A security guard at a resort in Langkawi has become the latest sensation in the island thanks to a video with a playful Dusky leaf monkey.

In the video, Muhamad Hafiidz Hamzah was seen with the monkey he named Lisa, which started pinching his nose not too long after the recording was started.

“1,2,3 selfie.! rakam rupanya (oh, its recording),” read the caption of the video that was posted on Tik Tok.

The video went viral on Tik Tok with over 2 million views.

“I was shocked when the video exploded. Many news pages reposted it.”

“Even the Los Angeles and Singapore media wanted to buy the clip from me,” he told mStar, as quoted in a report in Malay Mail.

The 25-year-old shared that the video clip was taken from the recording of a closed-circuit television.

He also said that he is used to the monkey which is always seen around Berjaya Langkawi Resort where he works.

“They are tame. The resort area used to be their habitat. When the resort was built, they ran away from the area.”

“But when tourists started to feed them, they returned and stayed on,” adding that the monkeys recognise people who feed them.

Muhamad Hafiidz said he also received many requests for him to record other videos of the monkeys and that the original video has led the resort to gain more popularity.

“Many came to visit and the first thing they asked when they saw me was am I the guard with the monkey. Even Shuib Sepahtu’s family and his personal assistant also approached me.”
