While most of the world is in lockdown to flatten the curve of the escalating coronavirus cases, many still could not stay put inside the house.

In Indonesia, volunteers are trying the scare tactic to force people to stay at home.

According to a report in BBC, a village on Java Island called the Kepuh village is using ‘pocong’ to do night patrolling.

Locals said the tactic worked because people are scared and are staying at home.

The initiative was organised by the head of the village's youth group in co-ordination with local police.

"We wanted to be different and create a deterrent effect because pocong are spooky and scary," Anjar Pancaningtyas, head of the youth group.

We are not surprised as this tactic has been used in Malaysia before.
