On 1 January, These 62 Toll Plazas On 24 Highways Will Accept RFID Payment
Sick and tired of fumbling for your SmartTAG and holding it up every time you pass the toll gate? Or stopping your car at the toll booth just to tap your Touch n' Go card?
Don't worry; beginning 1 January 2020, you won't need to do that anymore.
Widely accepted soon
Bernama reported that from 1 January onwards, motorists can use the radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to pay for toll on 24 highways nationwide. On the 24 highways, there will be 62 toll plazas that accept RFID payment, the Works Ministry said.
These are the highways that accept payment through the RFID system:
- North-South Expressway (Bangunan Sultan Iskandar toll plaza, Johor Baru; Kempas and Senai, Johor; and Jitra, Kedah)
- KESAS Expressway
- Kajang SILK Highway
- Butterworth Ring Road
How does it work?
It works just like your Touch n' Go card or SmartTAG, but it's even more convenient. The RFID system uses a sticker, which is placed on the headlamp of your vehicle, that is connected to your Touch ‘n Go e-wallet.
That way, you can top up the value of your e-wallet online without having to go to a customer service centre or a top-up centre.
In short, it makes your live that much more easier and faster.
So, if you haven't got your RFID sticker fitted, go do it soon.
