The tremors were real!

They were remnants of a medium earthquake that struck North Sumatra, Indonesia, that travelled all the way to Malaysia.

No tsunami risk



According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET), the earthquake with an epicenter of 19 kilometers southeast of Padang Sidempuan and it occurred at 1.19 p.m. on August 11, 2021.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.6 on the Richter scale, with the depth of 19 kilometers.

MET said despite the tremors that shook some buildings in Peninsular Malaysia including Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, there weren't any threats of a Tsunami.
