AirAsia Will Now Charge You RM30 If You Check-In Via The Counter
Soon, we'll see lesser queues at AirAsia's check-in counters.
That's because the budget airline will start charging a fee if you do not know how to use their self check-in machines at the airport.
Do it yourself
Malay Mail reported that effective 1 September, AirAsia will be imposing a check-in fee.If you are planning to fly anywhere soon via Air Asia, do take note that counter check-ins will have a fee effective Sept 1.
The counter check-in fee costs RM20 per guest for domestic flights and RM30 per guests for international flights which can be paid by cash or credit card at the airport.
AirAsia Group Chief Operations Officer Javed Malik said in a statement that the implementation of the counter check-in fees is one way to encourage guests to use digital technnologies and to ensure that the check-in process is more efficient.
On top of that, using their self check-in counters will reduce the physical contact between passengers and the AirAsia staff, said Javed, which is crucial during the pandemic.
“In the past two months, thousands of guests on essential travel have experienced our contactless travel procedures as we stepped up our safety and security measures for the health and safety of our guests and Allstars,” Javed said in the statement.
So, if you don't want to fork out unnecessary money, you can opt to check-in via the AirAsia.com website, mobile app or at the airport kiosks.
And don't worry; AirAsia also provides fee exemption for those with reduced mobility, travellers with an infant (under 24 months of age) and guests affected due to schedule changes and flight cancellation.
Take note of this, yeah, guys!
