2018 is bound to be the year of e-sports. Why? Long gone are the days where parents think playing games are a big waste of time as gamers nowadays earn up to seven figures just by winning at what they do best – playing games.

On Sunday, a Malaysian Dota 2 team – Mineski proved that theory when they walked away with US$370,000 (RM1.43 million) after winning the the Dota 2 Asian Championships 2018.

They're literally bathing in money now.
The team consisting of local boys Chai Yee Fung or known as Mushi and Kam Boon Seng or known as Moon beat out China’s LGD Gaming team during the grand finals in Shanghai, China.

According to the New Straits Times, Mushi has earned more than RM3.5 million for his previous stints with Dota 2.

So next time, you can tell your parents you are on your way of becoming a millionaire if they nag you for playing too much Dota.

Mineski is also made up of three other members Daryl "iceiceice" Koh, Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong, and Michael "ninjaboogie" Ross Jr. who are from Singapore, Thailand, and Philippines.

The group of gamers made waves at the tournament after not only did they emerge as the champions, but they also became the first Southeast Asian team to win a major Dota competition.

Congratulations, Mineski!
The win also cemented Mineski’s spot to qualify for The International Dota 2 tournament at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on 20 August 2018.

Congratulations, boys! May this win pave the way for the future of Malaysian e-sports not only locally but also globally.

In the meantime, if you think you want to be a professional e-gamer in the future, you might want to pay attention to what these people (including Mushi) who are very experienced in our local gaming industry have to say about it.

Who knows, you might be the next Mushi and win millions just by playing Dota 2.
