Authorities Confirm That The Altantuya Murder Case Will Be Reopened

Dig up the old files and get to work!

Twelve years after the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case shocked the world, one might think that the case is done and dusted.
Well, not so fast, Speedy Gonzales!
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun confirmed to The Star Online that the police are reopening investigations into the gruesome murder case.
According to the report, the decision to reopen the case was made after Altantuya's father Dr Shaaribuu Setev, who flew into town on Tuesday, lodged a new report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters on Wednesday.
Mohamad Fuzi told the news portal that the investigation "will be based on the old police report and a new one lodged in Dang Wangi."
He also added that the result of the investigation would be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor once it's done.
The scene of the murder. In 2006, the Mongolian model is believed to have been murdered before her body was blown up using military-grade C4 explosives at a jungle in Mukim Bukit Raja, Klang.
Three years later, two former police Special Action Unit members Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri -- who at the time was part of former Malaysian PM Najib Razak's personal security team -- were found guilty of murder.
Azilah is currently on death row, waiting for a pardon hearing while Sirul fled to Australia seeking asylum.
