But this year is coming to an end and to help end things on a sweeter note, national cyclist, Azizulhasni Awang delivered some good news from abroad.
According to The Star, Azizulhasni won first place at the Keirin Final at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane for the Australia National Track Championships.
Pocket Rocketman Keeps On Shining
The 32-year-old cyclist became the first-ever non-Australian, and probably Malaysian, to win the championships.
To make the podium finish sweeter, another fellow Malaysian Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom came in third behind Australia’s Matthew Glaetzer.
“Shah Firdaus and myself never expected this to come (the chance to compete before the year is over),” Azizul told the English daily.
“First of all, I want to thank Cycling Australia for allowing us to be here and to race as guest riders as this was their national championships.”
“We are very happy with what we achieved as we are still in the midst of a heavy training load and not geared towards competition.”
This is Azizul’s first championship after nearly 10 months since winning two bronzes at the World Track Cycling Championships in Berlin.
