A baby born in the United States has been awarded with the Guinness World Records for being the world's most premature baby to survive.

According to a report in Mashable SEA, Curtis Means only weighed 420 grams when he was born at 21 weeks and a day, on July 5, 2020.

He beat the odds and survived

His mother, Michelle Butler was experiencing labour on July 4, 2020 and he was born along with his twin sister C’Asya, the next day.

Sadly, C’Asya passed away a day after she was born and Curtis had an extremely slim chance of surviving, at less than one per cent.

Despite the odds, he thrived on.

After spending 275 days fighting for his life in the hospital, Curtis was taken off the ventilator and discharged.

Curtis is currently 16-months-old and as healthy and happy as he could be.

“Being able to finally take Curtis home and surprise my older children with their younger brother is a moment I will always remember," said Butler.

The previous record for the most premature baby belonged to Richard Hutchinson, who was born 131 days premature on June 5, 2020.

We wish Curtis a beautiful life ahead!
