Please, please, be truthful.

This is the latest plea by Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Dr Noor Hisham said that there were various incidents where patients were not truthful about their medical history and their recent close contacts.

"We had a few incidences this week where patients concealed their contacts and/or symptoms. The information of travel history and close contact for example linked to jemaah tabligh gathered in Seri Petaling Mosque not being revealed," he said.

He said that the patients only revealed that they had recent contact with COVID-19 patients or high-risk areas after receiving treatment.

By that time, all the healthcare workers and even the facility that they are in would have been exposed to the virus.

Tell the truth as it could save lives

"I appeal to the public and patients to please be truthful and not to hide information and risk our lives and facilities," he said.

He also reminded the public that it is a crime not to reveal or hide information.

So guys, there is nothing to be ashamed of if you have been exposed to an area or a person who has COVID-19.

Do not panic. Do not be afraid.

Understand that if you tell the truth, you can get medical treatment faster and are actually doing your part in keeping others safe.

If you have questions or suspect that you may have COVID-19, call the hotline.

Let's be responsible and work together to bring the COVID-19 numbers down in Malaysia.
