Starting September 30, all Malaysians can enjoy RON95 petrol at a reduced price of RM1.99 per litre.
This is part of a new targeted subsidy scheme called Budi95, introduced as part of the government’s promise to ease the financial burden on Malaysians.

To qualify, Malaysians must:
- Be aged 16 and above
- Hold a valid driving license
- Ensure their MyKad chip is functioning properly
According to a report by Sinar Harian, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged Malaysians to check their MyKad chip and renew expired driving licenses to avoid technical issues when claiming the subsidy.
“Malaysians are urged to check their MyKad chip and renew their driving license if it's already expired to avoid technical issues when claiming the subsidy,” he said.

The Finance Ministry stated that the payment process remains largely the same, with one added step: MyKad verification.
- At the pump: Insert MyKad before fueling, then pay as usual.
- At the counter: Present MyKad along with payment.
- Via apps (Setel, Touch ‘n Go, CaltexGo, etc.): Verify MyKad once, then pay as usual for future purchases.
Other key details
Each Malaysian is eligible for up to 300 litres of subsidized RON95 petrol per month under this scheme.
However, e-hailing drivers are exempted from the 300-litre cap, with further details to be announced by the authorities.
To help reduce congestion and streamline the claiming process, MyKad readers have already been installed at fuel pumps and inside convenience stores nationwide.
