Cheras Fireworks Stall Explosion Allegedly Started by Kids, Victim Shares Her Experience

While the real cause of the incident is still under investigation, some netizens speculated that two children had set off fireworks in front of the stall.

As reported in China Press, this allegation emerged after a dashcam video circulated online showed that at 8:28 pm on Tuesday, two people, believed to be kids, were seen squatting in front of the fireworks stall setting off fireworks.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received a call about the fire at the stall at around 9 pm the same night.

The cars that were caught in the fire were a Toyota Velldire, a Perodua Bezza, and a Proton Saga. Each vehicle reportedly sustained 40% to 95% burns.

Recalling the incident, Ida, 30, said on the night of the incident, she and a friend were planning to grab a bite at a convenience store before going for a karaoke just above the shop.

According to a report, Ida had parked her Proton Saga in the third parking space on the left side of the fireworks stall.

She had just taken a bite of bread when she started hearing a series of loud explosions outside. Fortunately, the convenience store's glass doors protected Ida and several other customers from the fireworks explosion happening just in front of the store.

Ida shared that she and the other customers waited for about 15 minutes before the store clerk told everyone to leave through the back door for safety.

"I came out from the back door and walked to the accident site through the back alley. That's when I saw how badly my car was damaged. I was heartbroken," she said.
