If you can't keep up with the whole MCO, CMCO, RMCO thing, here's what you missed in Tuesday's (2 March) announcement:

• The current movement control order (MCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang will end on 4 March, and replaced by the conditional movement control order (CMCO) effective 5 March
• CMCO in Kedah, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak and Perak will continue until 18 March
• Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, Putrajaya, Labuan and Perlis will be placed under the recovery movememnt control order (RMCO) until 18 March

With the shift in control orders, comes a new set of SOPs, especially regarding inter-district and interstate travels.

Free travel between states

On Tuesday, Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told Malay Mail that residents in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are now free to move between the two states.

Police letters or permission slips are no longer required for travel between the two states as the two federal territories and Selangor were considered a unified zone, Ismail Sabri said.

"As implemented during the first MCO, Selangor, KL and Putrajaya are considered a single zone. As such, travel between Selangor and KL is allowed," he was quoted as saying.

However, if you want to travel to Putrajaya for non-work related reasons, you would need a police letter.

"This is to protect Putrajaya, which is under the recovery MCO," Ismail Sabri was quoted as saying.


On the other side of the sea, the Sabah state government has decided to continue to implement the ban on interdistrict travels as they are still recording a pretty high number of COVID-19 cases.

Sadly, interstate travels are still not allowed, so we have to wait a while longer before we get to go home to see our family.
