This is going to come as a blow to many, especially business people who make the bulk of their income during the Ramadan season.

The government has now confirmed that no Ramadan bazaars will be allowed, whether it's online or offline.

No compromise

Earlier, there were plans of having online or 'drive thru' bazaars but on Thursday (16 April), Senior Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the government has decided to not allow any type of bazaars this fasting season.

It has been decided

"During today's meeting, we have decided that any form of business that has to do with Ramadan bazaar or stalls including drive thru, and 'pack and pick' are not allowed.

"So, no more issues regarding Ramadan bazaars or e-Iftar... although not open as usual, even with 'e', is not allowed," he said during a press conference.

No Ramadan bazaars are allowed.
Sadly, we would now have to say goodbye to your favourite kuih-muih and other goodies usually enjoyed during Ramadan, guys.

Let's hope at least some of the usual businesses manage to find ways to sell their wares on food delivery apps and other means.

Whenever possible, support our local businesses, especially the small ones.
