If you love creative content creation and are looking for a fund to expand your talent, look no further.

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (K-KOM), through Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), is offering the 2022 Digital Content Grant (DCG).

According to a report in News Straits Times, DCG’s objective is to assist Malaysian digital content creators to create content in animation, interactive media, digital games and others.

DCG is currently looking for new application where digital creative content companies with a minimum paid-up capital of RM20,000 can apply for either a grant worth RM300,000 or a development cost of RM500,000 for Intellectual Property (IP) Marketing and Licensing cost.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa was quoted in the report as saying that the pandemic has made the business landscape especially towards start-ups and SMEs, more challenging and as such the DCG will help such businesses remain strong and resilient in the local and global market.

"Since 2016, MDEC has approved 55 projects worth over RM34.5 million to help digital creative content companies fund ideas at the development stage to make it investment and 'green-lit' friendly," he said in the report.

DCG has also gave birth to popular animation such as Didi & Friends by DD Animation Sdn Bhd, Ejen Ali the Movie by Wau Animation Sdn Bhd and Astrology the animation by Lemon Sky Animation Sdn Bhd.
