Since her retirement, Datuk Nicol Ann David has continued to be an active member of the world of sports.

The eight-time world squash champion was recently awarded with an Honorary Doctorate in Sports Science by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

She was given the title for her undeniable contributions in the sports for the country, and it rendered her speechless.

Congratulations, Datuk Nicol!
"It’s not everyday you receive a doctorate. This honorary doctorate means a lot to me. It is a great feeling and my parents are here with me, making it a truly special moment for me," she said.

According to New Straits Times, the ceremony was held in conjunction with the institution's 50th anniversary celebration.

Following her retirement, Datuk Nicol plans to give more motivational talks to inspire her fellow Malaysian athletes.

"I would like to start giving more talks. Hopefully I will also be with the local athletes and work with the Youth and Sports Ministry to see where our athletes can go. I want to focus on building my foundation as well," she said.

She will forever be our best squash queen.
We can see that our national squash queen is determined to be more involved in the development of future young players, and we certainly hope to see more young athletes follow after her footsteps.
