Recently, a group of Malaysians started the White Flag or #BenderaPutih movement so that those who are in need of aid can get help without prejudice:

The move has so far helped those who are really in need.

However, cosmetics tycoon Datuk Seri Vida is not a fan of the crowd-sourcing movement.

'Stop being lazy'

The founder of beauty brand Qu Puteh has recently made headlines when she said Malaysians who are waving white flags and expect help are "lazy".

Datuk Seri Vida made the remark in a video uploaded onto her TikTok account on Monday (5 July).

In the video, the 39-year-old can be seen buying food from a street vendor, while exclaiming: "Stop using the excuse of the movement control order to say you can’t make a living and can’t work".

The tycoon has since come under heavy fire.
She proceeded to ask the seller how much he earns, to which he said "about RM200 to RM250 per day".

She then chided Malaysians for being lazy, and they should use the street vendor as an example to work hard and not depend on help from other people.

"(He earns) RM200 to RM250 a day, as long as there's a will and hard work and the most important thing, the menu has to be delicious and clean.

"Do you understand? Work hard, don’t be lazy and expect help by putting up a white flag," she told viewers of the video.

The video has since been viewed more than half a million times on the social media site, and it has since made its way to more social media sites.

Angry response from netizens

Naturally, the remark didn’t sit down well with netizens at all, and they had no problems taking to their social media accounts to sound out about what they think of her statement:

After seemingly pissing off the entire Twittersphere, Datuk Seri Vida uploaded another video on her TikTok account to further explain her statement:

What do you guys think of what Datuk Seri Vida said? Was it a little too harsh, or was it #facts?
