Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has been the face of Malaysian healthcare ever since the COVID-19 pandemic plagued the country.

If there’s anyone that deserves recognition alongside with our frontliners, it’s definitely him.

And on Friday (17 July), he received the BrandLaureate ‘Most Outstanding BrandLeadership Award’ for his exceptional role, leadership, and achievement in handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia as reported by Bernama.

The surgeon also received the Excellent Healthcare Service Provider award on behalf of the Ministry of Health (MOH).


Noor Hisham shared photos of the award ceremony via his Facebook and said that the awards received was “on behalf of all frontliners and those who have worked behind the scenes.”

“Both of these awards reflect the dedication, commitment, sacrifice and resilience of every individual in the Ministry of Health and various agencies to provide the best healthcare service for the Rakyat and nation,” Noor Hisham wrote.

“Thank you to the Rakyat for the patience and cooperation you have given to the frontliners and authorities throughout this challenging time. Let us continue to ensure our beloved nation emerge victorious in this war against an invisible enemy.”

Malaysians flooded the Health DG's post with congulatory comments and thanked him for his service to the nation.

The World Brands Foundation’s (TWBF) Chariman Tan Sri Rainer Althoff told our Health DG that Malaysia had successfully managed to flatten the COVID-19 curve due to the hard work of the MOH team under his leadership.

"You (Dr Noor Hisham) and your team made it. You found the winning recipe to flatten the curve, and showed the best practice in communication," Althoff said.
